Frequently asked questions

Short answers to the things people ask most. Each links to a deeper explanation.

Is Topaz Vaults custodial? Can you take my funds?

No. Vaults are non-custodial smart contracts. Your share tokens stay in your own wallet and you can withdraw directly from the blockchain at any time, without permission from anyone.

How vaults work

What is auto-compounding?

The vault automatically claims its rewards, converts them back into your position, and reinvests them on a schedule. Your earnings start earning too — without you claiming or restaking by hand.

The strategy

Do I need both tokens to deposit?

No. You can deposit both of a vault's tokens, or zap in with a single token or BNB and let the vault split it for you in one transaction.

Zapping

Can I withdraw at any time?

Yes. Withdrawals and zap-outs are never paused or gated, even during volatile markets. You can exit your full position whenever you want.

Why is the deposit button sometimes disabled?

When the market is moving sharply, deposits and zap-ins pause briefly until prices are calm again. This protects you from manipulated pricing and MEV. It clears on its own — try again shortly. Withdrawals are never affected.

The calm check

What fees does the vault charge?

Fees are charged on earnings, not on your principal: a performance fee on harvested rewards and a small call fee that incentivizes harvesting. Mechanical swap costs apply when balancing or zapping. There is no withdrawal fee. Exact rates are shown on each vault page.

Fees & yield

What does 'in range' mean?

A concentrated-liquidity vault concentrates its liquidity around the current price and only earns while the price is inside that range. The strategy re-centers the range automatically as the price moves, so brief out-of-range periods are normal.

Ranges & rebalancing

Does the strategy swap my tokens?

Not to balance your deposit. It deploys your tokens across a main range and an alt range without forced swaps, which avoids unnecessary fees and slippage. The only swapping is converting earned rewards back into the pair when compounding.

The main + alt design

What is impermanent loss?

When the two tokens in a pair change price relative to each other, an LP position can be worth less than simply holding the two tokens. It's a normal part of providing liquidity. The vault shows your performance versus holding so you can track it.

Risks & security

Why did my single-token zap mint fewer shares than I expected?

A single-token zap includes a real in-pool swap (price impact + the pool's swap fee) and the cost of fitting an imbalanced deposit into a concentrated position. The app simulates the exact result before you confirm. Depositing both tokens is the most efficient route.

How a zap is priced

Is APR guaranteed?

No. Displayed APR is an estimate based on current reward rates and is best read as a conservative floor; realized APY depends on trading volume, in-range time, and price action. Yields can go down as well as up.

APR vs APY

Which network are the vaults on?

BNB Smart Chain (chainId 56). You'll need a little BNB in your wallet to pay gas for transactions.

Can developers integrate the vaults?

Yes. You can integrate directly via the contracts, through the read-only Data API, or via the subgraph for historical analytics. The developer section has full details, code samples, and a per-vault integration manifest.
